Alexandra Durbin (formally Alexandra Gershman) is one of those people who makes hip and stylish look absolutely effortless.
When her wedding photos started popping up on Facebook i was blown away by her amazing vintage Givenchy wedding dress. Apparently New York Magazine was too - turns out she is being featured in the Spring 2010 New York Magazine Wedding Issue.
one good thing about shooting street style in austin for SXSW every year is the people i'm forced to stop and say hello to.
usually we chat a bit and i learn where they're from and what they're up to in Austin. sometimes i shoot a person who looks interesting only to find out the next week they're friends of friends back in NYC, or they turn out to be big stars the next year. or i never see them again.
Most of my friends are down in Austin for the next few days eating great food, seeing tons of bands, enjoying the nice texas sunshine, and being rowdy until the wee hours of the morning. While i wont miss the craziness of trying to shoot/work/play 20 hours a day for 5 days - and the inevitable sickness that follows the week after - i am a little sad i'm not partaking in the festivities.
so here's some goodtimes from years past (2006-2009)
Yes, my obsession with tie dye has now leaped into the cooking realm.
I made chris a tie dye cake for his birthday, and it turned out pretty great. now that i know how to do this, expect many more homemade dyed cakes and cookies! forth of july i'm looking at YOU.
next time i promise to have better photos - the lighting in my kitchen is horrrrible at night, but that's going to change soon enough.
we started celebrating last night with midnight(ish) margaritas and presents. I've been dying to give him his present since i ordered it last month. I got him a beautiful hunk of camera - the Nikon 35Ti. This film camera not only takes pretty pictures, but has an amazing display panel on top that shows all the settings.
we're leaving for Mexico tomorrow afternoon for a weekend full of white sand and tequila sippin', so he'll have a good chance to test it out right away. i can't wait to see the photos! (and be in Mexico)
