i mentioned before julia's planning on being the tootsie pop owl for halloween. she came over wednesday night and we started putting together the costume.
last weekend chris's parents were in town and took us to Billy Elliot on broadway. i've never seen the movie - never even considered it - so boy was i in shock. this play was AMAZING. from the giant dancing dresses to the insane talent of the little boy who played billy - this show ruled.
rikky interned at brooklyn botanical garden this summer. not only did he teach me proper plant care and help plot what we should grow on the deck - he also scored a giant trash bag of collard greens and cooked them up for us one day.
was talking to Mo this weekend about my unwavering love for Sifl and Olly, and realized how perfect this song is for the week before halloween. although... this is one of those random songs i get stuck in my head year round.
if you've never seen sifl and olly run to the internet and watch immediately.
there's a guy in my neighborhood who's always busy working hard on the interiors of his intricate garage. there are race car flags. there are mirrors. there are 'corvette parking only" signs.
but a couple weekends ago i walked by after work and saw he'd taken his passion for decorating to the next level by painting elaborate 9/11 murals on the outside of the garage doors.
since we had so much fun LAST YEAR carving pumpkins, we decided to have another party this fall. only this time we invited more people, turned it into a pot luck type situation, dished out the chili frito pie by the plateful and drank gallons of hot rum and cider. consider this a tradition.
chris's good friends noel and heather stayed with us this weekend while apartment hunting in the hood. so nice having them around. a million hang sessions soon to come.
one of my favorite parts of halloween is helping people plan their costumes. julia's going as the tootsie pop owl. can't wait to see the finished product
