WE'RE ON THE MOVE

once again we're on the move.

today we're fleeing new york for warmer weather. we're swapping frigid northeastern temperatures for two weeks of sunny hawaiian beaches. we're hitting the big island, kauai, and oahu and gonna to try to see and do as much as we can (while still being lazy of course)

happy holidays friends!
safe travels, good times and big hugs

HOME IS WHERE THE FARM IS

back in november chris and i made a quick trip to missouri to hang out with my grandpa, cousins, aunt, uncle, dad, stepmom, brother and sisters at the family farm in northern missouri.

this isn't where i'm from, but it's where my dad grew up and where we spent a lot of quality family time when i was younger.

really glad i got to go back and spend some quality time here
brought back a lot of great memories

SAYING GOODBYE TO GRANDPA MAX

i got the sad news monday morning that my grandpa max passed away.

my dad's dad - he was a truly amazing man, so incredibly sweet and funny and warm. he was a farmer with a heart of gold, with a great sense of humor and an even better love of family.

we were lucky to have him in our lives, and i'm grateful he's in a better place now. but he sure will be missed

SO MUCH THANKS

we have so much going on our lives here in new york, sometimes i forget to stop and really think about how lucky we are and how much we have to be thankful for.

i'm thankful for my amazing husband, chris, who is constantly trying to top himself for the best husband award. my family who is always supportive and loving and there for me whenever i need them, even when they're so far away.

my friends who make me laugh, instigate good times and who i can always count on for an impromptu taco party. two cats who love to snuggle and greet me at the door every day and are full of love and personality.

a city that never stops and sometimes pushes a little too hard but is still one of the most magical and inspiring places on earth. a job that lets me spread my creative wings and try new things.

and that's just the beginning of the list
SO MUCH THANKS.

THAT ONE WEEKEND IN OCTOBER IN THE CATSKILLS

with so much going on (and a bad trend of forgetting to post much) i realized i never posted the pictures from a weekend we spent upstate with friends.

it was a last minute trip - we jumped on with a group of friends that were heading up state to look at houses - but it turned into a lovely little weekend upstate. we cooked great meals, drove around in the convertible, played tennis and did yoga in the yard.

trading weekends full of partying for chill days in the woods makes me think we might be getting old...

E I E I O

chris and i went to missouri this weekend to celebrate my grandpa's 85th birthday. since he's been a farmer his whole life, i thought it would be fun to surprise him with a special cake for the celebration

i made a silo, pigs, corn and a tractor out of fondant, used pretzels for the fence, coconut for the grass and oreos for the dirt

he was pretty excited about it!

WE WENT CHASING WATERFALLS

and here we are at the last post of our northwestern trip
a combo of cannon beach and portland

cannon beach was magical. we stayed for two nights on the water pretty much right in front of haystack rock (or as most people know it - the goonies place).

we didn't stay in portland long, but we did take time to check out the waterfalls then chow down on food carts, walk around the pearl district popping in and out of shops, and ate the best ice cream in the world at salt and shaker.

and then we came home
best roadtrip ever!
