WE WENT CHASING WATERFALLS

and here we are at the last post of our northwestern trip
a combo of cannon beach and portland

cannon beach was magical. we stayed for two nights on the water pretty much right in front of haystack rock (or as most people know it - the goonies place).

we didn't stay in portland long, but we did take time to check out the waterfalls then chow down on food carts, walk around the pearl district popping in and out of shops, and ate the best ice cream in the world at salt and shaker.

and then we came home
best roadtrip ever!

TREEHOUSE PARADISE

hands down the coolest place we stayed on our trip.

we somehow found this amazing treehouse bed and breakfast when searching for hotels on our adventure. vertical horizons had three different treehouses to choose from, but we liked this one because of the deck and picture window.

very. very. cool.

CRUISIN' THE 101

after our forest adventure we jumped back on the 101 and headed for oregon, taking our time to explore a hidden fern canyon, pose with paul and babe, and just take in the drive.

REINFORCING STEROTYPES

tree huggin' hippies
humboldt redwoods state park

ON THE AVENUE OF THE GIANTS

there were a lot of amazing parts of our trip, but when it all comes down to it, these next two days were my absolute favorite.

if you've never been to the redwood forest stop what you're doing right now and book yourself a trip.

these gigantic trees were insanely breathtaking. it really felt like you were a miniature person in that super mario land where everything is huge. not even exaggerating a bit here. i've never walked through a forest and almost been brought to tears. really friggin cool.

the only downfall about the whole thing - it was so dark under these giants my film camera couldn't handle the light adjustment. so i got a lot of grain and some dark photos, but a million magical memories.

JFK > SFO > AND THEN SOME

the first day was a doozy, but it was worth it because we were so excited.

we flew into san francisco from jfk, rented a car and immediately took off for hwy 1. after hours of winding our way up the little coastal highway (and stopping for lunch in a cute small town) we headed further north to miranda, a town perched on the edge of the avenue of the giants in the humbolt redwoods state park.
