HANGIN' TOUGH

chris bought me a hammock chair for my birthday
I've always wanted a hammock but since a full sized one would have taken up a good chunk of our deck, chris surprised me with the next best thing. it's become one of my favorite places to relax and read after work or on the weekends.

RENEGADES GONE GREEN

a great thing about summer are the craft fairs and green markets that fill the streets on the weekends. we wandered through the renegade craft fair a couple weekends ago in mccarren park and bought all sorts of jewelry, magnets, and random gifts.

but beyond the necklaces and screen printed t's, the coolest part of the day is that we signed up for renewable energy for our electricity. according to the guy at the table (and the website) signing up for renewable energy is the equivalent of planting over 2 acres of trees. yup. we feel good about ourselves.

GNOCCI!

i love gnocci. seriously.
i looooooooove gnocci.

not only is it a fun word to yell, but the way the little balls of fabulousness melt in your mouth with buttery goodness is so far beyond other food.

this is chris and i's second attempt at homemade gnocci. both turned out great. this version is ricotta based with a butter rosemary sauce. we paired it with a goat cheese salad with candied walnuts, roasted pears and reduced balsamic.

BACK TO BEACHIN'

so... i've been lazy.

ever since chris gave me my leica last september, i've completely ignored my holga (and my flat bed scanner). fortunately the rain showers today gave me an excuse to spend the day inside, and i finally got around to scanning this roll from becky's visit to NYC last summer.

summer might not officially start until next monday, but in my world summer's in full effect.
parks, rivers, lakes and beaches
come 'n get me.

THE BEST ICED COFFEE YOU WILL EVER HAVE

chris introduced me to this gem last summer and after the first taste i was addicted. last weekend was my first round for the summer. (i went back a second time the same day for more)

seriously. it's like magic. instead of ice they use shaved frozen coffee.
it's best with milk and sugar.
