another fourth of july is right around the corner which means so is our trip home to missouri to celebrate with family. last year there was grilling, biking and fishing. really looking forward to doing it all again this weekend.

KARLI'S BIRTHDAY WEEKEND UPSTATE
14 of us rented the most amazing house in rhinebeck, new york this past weekend for Karli's birthday. as if the beautiful house with a ginormous kitchen, grill, hot tub, piano, and multiple decks wasn't enough, we also had our very own HUGE private pool in the middle of a field. and a pond. and horses.
needless to say, it was magical.
i'm thinking about organizing another group trip to hit the same spot at the end of september. holler at me if you're interested.

got my new surfboard in the mail while we were gone this weekend. I LOVE IT SO MUCH! it's the most amazing gift ever. hope i can catch some waves with it.

DIY: THE MOSS BOX
while checking out the renegade craft fair in williamsburg yesterday i ran across a booth that had these awesome moss shadow boxes. instead of paying $65/each for them i hightailed it to Michaels and made a couple of my own.
i would have preferred raw wood or white shadow boxes, but this was the best of what they had at the store. super quick project, and an easy way to have some green on your walls without having to keep it alive (big sorry goes out to the two little air plants i accidentally killed.)

PANAMA - FISHING AND HIKING AND DRINKING
there are only about 60 people who live on the island of Morro Negrito. one day a few of us from the camp hiked through the jungle to hang out at the local bar (a shack) called "monkey bar". when you get there you have two options: beers for a $1/each, or a bottle of rum for $10. no mixers. just rum.
another morning we hiked to a little waterfall and saw a ton of monkeys in the trees on our way. we also went fishing once (but didn't catch anything).
