AIR BORN AND BACK

we did it! not only did we survive our first flight as a family, but since chris had to head back to NYC early, me and hazel also had our first mommy/daughter solo plane ride.

there were some bumps along the way - turbulence, dropped pacifiers, tears, and having to pee on the plane while holding a baby (!?!), but we made it!

if you ever plan on traveling alone with an infant all i can say is BE PREPARED. having a solid game plan and only brining the essentials made it a totally tolerable (albeit anxiety ridden) feat.

WANDERERS KEEP WANDERING

tomorrow we continue our family travel adventures and hazel gets to go on her first flight!

we're all flying to missouri for my cousin's wedding, and while chris has to come back early, hazel and i are staying a full week.

wish us luck, we might need it.

A HAT FOR HAZEL HILL

i made a quick little hat for hazel this week inspired by pendleton colors, but greatly overestimated the size of this kid's noggin.

whoops. guess she'll grow into it?

THE OVERNIGHTERS

back in july, jay and mo were nice enough to invite us to their home in the catskills for the weekend. their place is an old schoolhouse on a nice piece of land with a pond and fire pit (naturally).

it was a perfect first overnight trip for us as a family and a great way to spend hazel's two month birthday

5 YEARS AND 1000 POSTS

well here we are. not only is today the 5th anniversary of me starting this little blog, but this also happens to be my 1000th post (i may have coordinated that in a little ocd moment, but who wouldn't?!)

so much has happened in my life in the last five years and i'm lucky to have it all documented here in this one place.

i've traveled from russia, to nicaragua, to thailand and explored the lower east coast to the upper west coast and everything in between. i've stayed out late, gone to bed early, and spent entire days DIYing. i got married, had a baby, visited family and lost a few people who i loved very much.

my very first post in 2009 was a polaroid of me lying outside, so it seems fitting to post this pic of chris and hazel for my 1000th post. wonder what picture i'll have to share in another five years...

DIY FELT NUMBERS

just realized i forgot to post about the DIY felt numbers i've been making for hazel!

not sure if you noticed them in her one, two and three month photos, but instead of doing the normal baby pic with a sticker on her belly, i decided to make a little felt number i could take hazel's picture with each month.

i thought it'd be cute to see her interacting with the numbers as she grows older, and at the end of the year we'll have a cute set of photos AND numbers she can play with and use when she learns to count.

plus it gives me a little built in DIY project each month
excited to see how these turn out
