FLOWER ANNIVERSARY
earlier this year chris and i planned on taking a big vacation for our 4th wedding anniversary, which happens to be our fruit/flower anniversary. PERFECT we thought. what a great excuse to go somewhere tropical - just the two of us.
well then i got pregnant and we realized anywhere tropical was out (thanks zika!), so we did the second best thing. we did a mini road trip to philly for brunch then took a mini workshop where we made air plant shadow boxes.
maybe not quite the same thing as a trip to belize, but it was still a fun adventure.

FAMILY DAY AT ALSTEDE FARM
we didn't have any plans today so when our casual hang time with the mckesten's turned into the possibility for adventure, we jumped on the chance to finally check out alstede farm.
i've had my eye on this place for awhile and SO glad we finally made it there. were went for the peach and berry picking but had an amazing time with the animals, haystack tower, ice cream and apples.

WHY SO SLUGGISH
so there's a reason i've been so sluggish with posting recently - i'm decidedly taking a new approach to this blog.
for the last seven years i've loved keeping this blog as visual diary of what i'm doing / what i'm seeing / where i'm going - and it's been a good way to keep myself taking pictures. but now with so much social media in our lives - my instagram, hazel's instagram, instagram stories, snapchat and facebook - posting on this blog isn't quite scratching that life-archiving itch that it used to. (that and i'm starting a yearly printed photo album because i'm sick of everything being digital)
what i DO still love about this format is that it keeps me thinking like a visual storyteller. wide scene setting shots, details, portraits and how they all fit together. when i post on the blog it keeps me shooting like i want to tell a mutli-photo story, which other social media outlets don't do.
anywho, this is a long way of saying i'm not going to stop posting here.
i DO like this format and it is still special to me. but i'm throwing out the guilt of feeling like i need to post every 3-5 days like i used to. now i'm posting when i want to. when i get to it. when i'm bored. or when i have something to share.

CAPE MAY
somehow over the past two years, sleeping in six states and two other countries, we forgot to take a family vacation - just the three of us. chris had the brilliant idea of a throwing together a quicky mini-vacation to cape may and it was exactly what we needed.
we loved the beach town. it was less jersey shore and more southern quaint, and just a 2.5 hour drive from our house we couldn't have asked for more.
oh, and we ate ice cream every day. because it was vacation and that's what we harmon's do.
